Holy Scrap Batman!

Scrap metal is not part of my business plan and being a one man shop I don't generate all that much but today I made my way down to the scrap yard. It's been about a year I guess and while I'm sure some of you may generate this much or more in a month, the $798 I got was a nice addition to a relatively slow day. I'm curious what prices everyone is getting around the country.

I got:

2.75 for #1
2.40 for #2
1.40 for yellow brass
.80 for dirty brass
and I forgot what I got for iron

Last week I took a load of steel to the scrap yard and got $180.00 a ton.

dip the tarnished copper into the vinegar, comes out very shiny.

I have never done this...just heard it works.

Re: Holy Scrap Batman!

I've got a bucket of copper out in the garage. When the pieces get too small to use, I run it down to the scrap yard.

Have not been there in a while though. I use to run man hole rings and cover down there when we were doing Sewer line replacemnts. Made some nice vacation money from that.
