Those I don't sand at all..It takes a few onion skins over the skim coat to get right . It takes more time and a few extra trips ,,But when the H/O hears me say there will be no sanding ! They are always willing to pay that little extra for my time.

Wipe on. Wipe off...Tight! I add light weight to my all purpose to cut down on the scratches .

So you hit all of the edges with light weight and that takes care of the sanding part?

It's a little more complicated than that...but no.


Tape /block/2 skims/ 2 TIGHT! skims over that! [no sand]

That's awesome, with no ridges showing through the paint. I haven't seen anyone do that. Good trick to have for those clients that will pay more to get what they want.

Had some issues with the can lights in the cathedral ... The spray foam got behind the box and expanded

I almost got it, but I still have ridges in the middle. Are you using all purpose compound or hot mud? I think I am mixing the quick set too thin.

By the looks of the pic ..Those are butt joints . By 'ridges' do you mean the joints are flashing? Not level? You gotta bust em out Mang!

If any way possible hang solid boards ..The less joints The better the finish.
