Silicone Acrylic Water Repellent Sealer

I had a potential client call me today that has a 12'x20 breezeway between her house and garage and would like to have it stained. She told me they had put a tinted Tuf-Top Silicone Acrylic water based sealer on it several yrs ago. I am familiar with acrylic sealers but have never used a silicone acrylic sealer. My question is what is the difference? If it is under roof and doesnt get much sunlight i thought maybe i could use an acetone base stain to penetrate the existing sealer but not sure how it would react with the silicone acrylic combo. Or should i just sand blast it and start from scratch and use an acid stain?
