How Long To Paint A Wall

Well I figured out the rough time frame thanks to a few helpful guys and thanks to JR shepstone that was just what I was looking for. No reason to make it any harder than that. Gave me a great idea on if I'm looking at a week or 4 weeks.

Well anyway I see some of the other quotes today. They were all 3x my figure. These were painters I see around this area all the time. But really 3x my price. I'm supplying better products also. Do painters really earn this kind of money as I'm def not low balling as I'm making good money from this job.

Oh yeah and thanks for shutting my thread down again Tin. You always find a reason don't ya. Getting silly now dont ya think

But anyway thanks again to the guys who didn't make a mountain out a mole hill.

I only find a reason if there's one to be found. You were (predictably) getting piled on and I did you a favor. If you feel strongly that's not the case, feel free to PM Nathan.

BTW, public discussion of moderation issues is against policy. I just now broke the rules, just for you.

You think what's funny is they were "pro painters". SW rep said the products they spec'd were the wrong products for the job also.

I guess these guys need a lesson in pricing wall painting.

I'm gonna have to let you have a short vacation for that seemingly small violation of protocol. Sorry.

Re: How Long To Paint A Wall

Looks like best way to price is figure what it should be, then double it. Still come in under the others...

Gives you room to have a 50% off special once in a while, too

The problem around here is there's people whomsaybthey can do it for 1/3rd my price. They either want to make no money or silly money. Kind of makes my prices look weird when I'm the only one in my ballpark.

Well, Until you finish the job, you won't really know how your bid was compared to the other bids.

Re: How Long To Paint A Wall

If they put a lift in their bid and you didn't, that would raise it significantly. Last job I did, the lift was a third of the price but it cut my time by 3/4. Way worth it it you have any detail work up high.

What paint did they spec? I've just used regular exterior latex on prepainted block with good results. Your not sealing or dealing with flaking paint. I suppose it depends on what was there to begin with, but they may be right.

I had my painter refinish a door and he charged about the same I would charge. Except he did crappy work, I could have done better myself. So in that sense he's charging more but not 3x more.

That's why I never pay painters. I have always done painting myself and maybe asking a skilled friend for a bit of help. It is cheaper and in most cases the result is better
