Glidden Diamond

I was going to have some quart color match samples mixed using Glidden Premium eggshell paint. It turns out the Glidden Premium quarts had frozen, so they used Glidden Diamond instead.

I figured I'd try it on test patches on a previously painted wall.

Bad idea. The paint was fine to work with, but the sheen was off - shinier than eggshell. Most paints I could just dilute denatured alcohol and reduce the sheen. No luck. That behavior is more typical of a semigloss or enamel.

Hopefully it won't result in a shiner when I repaint...

I'd return it.

20 bucks worth of paint samples vs time. I'd return it more to dispose of the paint than get money back.

I already wasted too much time, since it totally screwed me up. The good news is I didn't get shiners, so the repaint didn't suffer.

Re: Glidden Diamond

I haven't used Glidden since the 80's. If I remember right.

On the returns - guess I've gotten tired of the "newer and better" marketing mentality with so many claims...have no problem returning things.

- It's been rare that I've had suppliers reimburse me due to faulty material, but it's happened twice. One gave a credit in the form of paint, other cashed out.

But these were larger jobs or I wouldn't have bothered with it.

Some'll do it, regardless of what they say, they just really don't like to.

Re: Glidden Diamond

Glidden is PPG. They have had problems with the paint releasing from the roller, IMO. It depends on the exact product. Some if the glidden products cross to.volume PPG products.

I use a lot of it, but it isn't great to work with.
