salt/generator wont help w/ smell.. the only advantage to a salt generator is not storing chlorine on premises. once the salt hits electodes it is converted to chlorine. when the chlorine breaks down to chloromines (from oxidation of organics, body oils pee etc bacteria in general) chlormines sublimate and thats your chlorine smell.

been using silver/zinc program

Re: Chlorine Alternatives

I used to work for a company that used Hydrogen Peroxide in concert with some Carbon Dioxide for santizing the pool. The system produced some nice, clean non-chlorinated water but between the 500lb drum of HP and the CO2 cannisters, it was a hassle. Right before I left, on of the plumbers was talking about a new (Jandy?) system that essentially shocks the water while its in a flow cell by creatig Chlorine on the spot. I will try and dig up the details on it.
