What do you use for showers & Why.
1. Hardie Backer
2. Dura Rock
3. Schluter-KERDI

Permabase- easier to work with
Noble TS- my choice of thinset

I just switched over from Durrock to National Gypsum's Permabase. I like HydroBan or the Noble products because of a wider variety of thinsets can be used for different applications.
If a potential customer requests a Kerdi shower or Ditra then I will install it. Lowes and Depot are now selling Schluter shower kits, Ditra and Kerdiband but I don't place a warranty on customer supplied products for various reasons.

Noble for flooring and curbless showers
WEDI for all other showers and tub walls

Green EBoard is our preferred backer board of choice. It is not drywall but a Maganesium based product.

Once installed we go topical in our waterproofing and prefer the Mapei line and the Noble Company products.
