Tile Mosaic Over Polished Travertine?

Client would like to cover over outdated travertine at base of tub with marble mosaic. Iím talking about covering over the rectangular travertine tiles that make up the vertical wall at the base of the tub. Figure installing on top of whatís already there would be more cost-effective instead of ripping it all out. It is a polished finish. There is enough lip around the horizontal tub surround for mounting over the travertine vertical face. Is it possible to get a reliable and a permanent bond to this type of surface?

Itís possible.
As long as the existing travertine is sound and well bonded.

Mapei Eco Prim Grip.

That said...
If I didnít hate that huge overhang on the tub deck slab, I would just tear out the travertine.
Couple hours to demo and prep for marble.

That's a good candidate for eco prim grip. Anything will be better than that vertical "hot tub" look.

Same as above...

I have a job coming up, tear out a Re-Bath of 20 yrs ago. Expose 1950's mud job. Apply Eco - Prim and tile over.

Fwiw, first time using Eco-Prim in a wet area. I got with Sal on YT...said no problem.
