I'd guess blade makes a big difference and if you have wobble in your cutting tool that's probably an issue as well. It's what I would check first.

My sled wobbles. Blades good.

My tile setter says he has to have the bearings rebuilt or replace his saws every two years

square the travel of the sled, have a good blade, aim water properly, and feed slowly.

If you're cutting near an edge, butt a piece against it.
