Plastic Mesh In Sod Dissolve?

Doing some reseeding among dead sod I couldn't help but run into the green plastic mesh that I guess they use to grow sod these days.

Does it ever decompose or will the plastic be forever stuck the lawn?

Supposedly for improved "handling"?
