Qualified Work History

Hello Good Morning everyone
I pray all is well with you and your family. I'm fairly new to the construction industry. I have 5 yrs of work history but very knowledgeable and often work on personal projects. If you have the time ill like to ask you some questions to hopefully gain a better vision/approach on receiving my Florida Contractor License.

Currently I work for a Commercial Builder company. Our projects are primarily new construction piping systems and wastewater treatment plants. Will that work experience be considered and approved by the board, if I'm pursuing my builder contractor license? Being that im currently working for a contractor.
Or should I pursue becoming a residential contractor? My wife and I currently have four rental properties between us where I have completed multiple remodeling jobs. Nothing structural, I've installed flooring, countertops, and completed interior and exterior painting jobs.

Thank you for taking the time to read and respond.

Re: Qualified Work History

Don’t think that’s going to qualify you but it should be easy to find out without your employer knowing. Sounds like you need some more time under your belt. Maybe diversify yourself more into other trades. Even if it means going residential. They don’t care if you own 100 properties got to put in some time.

Have you studied up on what the requirements are. That’s where I would start.

Re: Qualified Work History

I moved this thread to the contractor licensing section so Lisa Adams (the Florida license expert here) would see it.

I also sent her a message that this and one more thread were here for her to look at if she gets a chance.
