What Is Your Favorite Piece Of Equipment?

I've always loved heavy machinery, probably started in my youth back on the ranch with all the equipment we had. I love all machines, though admittedly, the bigger they are the more I love them. Bulldozers are my personal favorite.

Where did you guys get your interest in heavy machines, and what is your favorite machine and why? And don't let your wallet dictate your answers. While "run what ya brung" certainly applies, if money were no object - heck, forget about utility as well - what would you like to have?

I like Rino's answer but for me it would be the skid steer. most versatile machine ever built. I personally would like to see one about the size of a D4 or so. a track type loader just isnt the same.

One that we don't owe money on.

Actually I like operating a mini exc. Probably because we don't own one.

I would love to be pushing with a D11R in a slot.

I think the Komatsu 575 is now the largest dozer.

Here is a picture of the 575 next to either a d10 or d11. Supposedly a d11

I'll second the skid steer for me, a 2109 mustang. Second would be an excavator 3 or 5ton volvo.

Well as long as we are in fantasy land....

I would just love to have a big ass steam locomotive, and one of those old steam shovels, you know like Mike Mulligan had. Man that would be cool!

Yes, the Komatsu is bigger, but I still like the Cat better.

That does look to be a D11 in the picture. Interestingly, the Komatsu is larger yet looks to have a lot better sight lines than the Cat.

Hey! Finally found a good use for a Ford!
