Are Ductless Systems As Efficient As Ducted

I have an older home which needs AC. Running ducts may present some challenges so I'm considering multi zone ductless units. Are they efficient in terms of energy consumption and cooling?

In the past 2 years I have had 8 ductless systems put in.
Yes they seem to be very efficient in energy use & cooling.
All have been Mitsubishi units with no problems.

Great thanks. Are they quiet? Do they offer air cleaning as an option??

Yes they are fairly quiet. Never looked in to the air cleaning possibilities. Good question.

My old house had a whole house filter which filtered dust like nobody's business. We never had to dust!! I loved that feature

Are you referring to the true duct free systems or the system where to ducts are ran outside?

Re: Are Ductless Systems As Efficient As Ducted

i have been told by suppliers that they are very much more efficient then typical split central air system. i dont have stats but having installed and servicing a few , i would say yes. you can hardly tell if the compressor turns on or is running.

All of the main name brand ductless have high efficiency units. the inverters systems are very efficient and generally very quiet.
