Apartment Telephone Access

Hello all,

Anyone here have any knowledge or expertise with Apartment Access systems??

Primarily a system that would have a Cellular Module for Communication to the Tenants apartment phone or cell phone. Which presently is an issue because a lot of tenants have out of state (area code) cell phones.

That it the big problem with POTS lines and the phone charges for long distance.

So, is there any know system that will work on a cellular service??

Thanks in advance,

Les

This is why they are all going VOIP. If you want cellular just use a cell to pots device, Leviton makes one, I think I even have one kicking around.

I think it's a C3, it use to be an HAI part.

ZTE and Netgear also make them but are only sold through cellular carriers. Call up a local cell carrier and ask for a cell to POTS service.

I feel like a dinosaur, over 40 years ago I used to install and repair apartment access systems in the urban areas of NJ. Fixing systems installed in the 30s.

And here I am now fixing ones that were installed in the 80s.

Re: Apartment Telephone Access

Hey Inner,

So I called the local AT&T store. What a mistake that was.
Actually called two different stores and they were clueless.

One suggested I dial 611 and the guy that answered was just
as clueless but then started to ask verification information
before he would go ask is supervisor.

After the 4th verification question I said I did not have a problem
with MY phone I was calling to find information on a device called
a Cell to POTS Adapter. He says he needs to verify for security
reasons. I hung up the phone. It seems they are not looking
for any new business.

I then called a customer of mine that has something similar
with Verizon. I got the model number HUAWEI F256-BVW

I guess I will call next week to see if Verizon can do better.

Inner, do you know what is the monthly fee for the service??

My customer has the bill but it is mixed in with all the other
charges it was difficult for him to determine.

Have a good holiday weekend!!
(if you actually have a Labor Day up north)
If not, then just have a good weekend.

Les
