It may well be if I was gonna attempt to do it.

Do you call an engineer when you wipe your ass? You seem to have that much of an obsession with them.

It's unhealthy dude.

No obsession with you. Your the wrong keep coming back making stupid comments.

Nah what's unhealthy is you got nothing better to do than go to threads and say call an engineer. Perhaps you should be out working worry about your own work and not mine.

I stand by statement. You ask an engineering question, and then come apart when somebody says to ask an engineer.

You are only looking for affirmation of what and how you think.

And I stand by my statement that I'm not gonna get an engineer to design anything until I know it can be done.

How about you carry on paying engineers to figure out which toilet paper to use to wipe your ass and I carry on using them to do final design and layout after I do my designs. How's that sound.

I heard they got chased out of the country by contractors whose decks got red tagged because they didn't hire an engineer.

Very common out here as we need a wet stamp on anything structural.

our ground in Michigan is not prone to quakes and tremors, I think this will prove to be more of a regional thing.

only time we need stuff remotely close to needing a stamp is on upper decks where not as many posts are wanted as the new 1500lb soil calcs are demanding

we just put up a 12x16 deck 2 rows of beams and they wanted 18" post holes for the 2 middle posts and 14" for the 4 outer ones. just plane stupid unless your making a heliport.

Re: Required Size Steel Beam For This Situation

I'm done with this whole thread.

Professionals would take about an hour and consult an Engineer.

The rest of this shade tree by guess and by gollying is just plain amateur and reeks of DIY....

CLOSED....
