Re: PVC DECK W/ PERGOLA

More; see how nice the colors match the house, 20' and 16' free spans, no center posts required. No ugly squash blocks, aluminum inserts in the top and bottom horizontal members of the rail. 8' clear spans. Aluminum brackets holding the rail to the post covered w/pvc trim rings. It is an aluminum rail covered w/ Veka pvc. It is the Veka pro Z rail.
2x8 aluminum I beams running through the middle of the 2x8s

This deck will look the same as the day we built it, except for the snow, for the next 20 years.

Nice work killer. You seem to be doing more pergolas here lately.
That's a badass spot to have a deck.

Does the pergola material come with the aluminum in it? We did a pvc pergola once, but we had to embed the aluminum ourselves.

It's a hollow 2x8 pvc w/ aluminum insert I designed, bought the die and my buddies at the extrusion plant made for me. I get the pvc 24' long in 2x6 and 2x8 and the aluminum inserts come 24' long also.

We use the cut offs for garden entrance pergolas. 8' x 6' or whatever is required.

Gotcha, when we did it we were using solid pvc boards.

Re: PVC DECK W/ PERGOLA

It would be interesting to see those beams in a few years.

Seeing as how the span is and all. A sag would be hard to fix.

The posts would have to come in also for it to sag, we have 16" screws going from the top beam(aluminum 16' span) through the lower beam (aluminum 20' span)

Seeing he is my neighbor I get to drive by it every night. He lives right across the street from me and will be able to monitor any issues.

Re: PVC DECK W/ PERGOLA

Assuming the I beam is at least 1/4", I doubt it will sag much. However, I think next time a 10 or even 12" beam would look even better as that is what it would have to be if it were wood. Maybe that's just my carpenter's eye.

Looks great. Being hollow, are the pergola ends pre-manufactured?

Re: PVC DECK W/ PERGOLA

Good looking deck and pergola Killer. Is that the 47K or 30K deck you were talking about?
I can't quite tell but I assume you used the louver design on the top. I haven't seen the double beam together like that before. If the pergola end caps go on the outside it may be a detail that customers complain about (gap/not straight) when they are side by side.
You don't need building permits for pergolas but a 20' span might be a little much. 2-3' of snow and then it rains is what I worry about.

They are not hollow there are aluminum I Beams in each one. I can always get thicker inserts made and slide them in if need be.
The largest PVC Extrusion I could find is 8". If there 10" or 12" I would do that.
I have seen 4x4's stacked w/square aluminum inserts.
Pergola ends are premade
