Porch/Deck Hybrid Design Questions...


I am trying to make this porch/deck look right and could use your input.

How do I incorporate the "deck railing" with the porch roof supports? If I bring the railing back so that it is in between the columns I only have about 4' 6" behind the railing. If I leave the railing out where it would normally be on a deck I will have a space in between the columns and railing.

Personally, I would not extend in past the porch columns, I see no need for a railing ( looks to be 16" above grade?) axe the funny shaped deck thing and take what you saved and pour a nice stamped concrete patio for a seating and grilling area.
