I use QuickBooks online. Free 30 day trial. https://quickbooks.intuit.com/online/

Attached is a sample with fake numbers. It’s very easy to upload your logo and design your own estimates, sales receipts, invoices etc. There’s also the ability to accept payments online and the system tracks everyone you email estimates and invoices to as well who owes you money.

Same thing I use. Really nice to be able to reference estimates and invoices from my phone.

Re: Invoicing And Estimates

I've been using Joist which can be accessed from phone and computer. It's a little lacking in functionality but does what I need it to do. It has a free version and recently they started charging for the pro version. I'd reccomend it but quickbooks may offer more functionality, I'm not sure.

Re: Invoicing And Estimates

I use an older Quickbooks program that I suppose I could invoice with but my work is usually laid out in a Word Doc for proposal and Contracts as well since more information is needed other than my line item and rate

Same here.

Joist is easy to learn, intuitive, looks professional, and entry level is free.

Simple to do estimates and convert to invoices. They charge a little bit if you want to do things like add pictures. I can sit at Burger King and knock out a simple estimate. Very convenient.

QBO for bookkeeping.

QBO will do everything Joist will do, plus the bookkeeping.

Joist charges me a little bit to sync everything to QuickBooks.

My bank is synced with my QuickBooks, every check and every debit card purchase is automatically entered into QBO.

If I were to do it over again, I would just use QBO.

Re: Invoicing And Estimates

Additionally, I can send a Joist estimate/invoice to an email address or to a cellphone via text.

Joist notifies me when an estimate or invoice is viewed.

Kind of handy to measure a roof, knock out an estimate, and show them the estimate when you get off the roof.

Love when i see the customer open the estimate a few times. Usually followed by an email from them.

Yes, the kind of work we do would certainly make a difference.

Most of my work is small repairs or simple straightforward things like decks fences or roofs

Just a simple contract and space for their signature agreeing to terms.

Imagine the simplicity of mine
Install gutters ( size and thickness )
Install downspouts (size and thickness ) $$$

Total $$$
Every once in a while they actually sign the estimate.

Re: Invoicing And Estimates

I prefer Joist to Quickbooks. Of course I don't have Quickbooks online, so that may be different.
It's easier to enter information.

Joist has some flaws. I've talked to them at least twice. Both times they acknowledged them and agreed it would make it better. Nothing ever happened.
Now that they charge for a few extras, it's not as good. If your cheap like me, that is.

It really sucks if you delete an estimate or invoice on Joist. They are gone forever.
