Exactly - Ugly! He plans to leave the outside exposed and maybe painted some day. Right now the north wall, visible to all, has a vinyl sided house with a red cargo container framed into the lower right hand corner, complete with vertical Chinese writing in white and a big white circle that says "JJ" - I can't stand it. Again, I'll post pictures when I can.

Only time I have heard of boron steel used is in vehicle construction. But on a drill bit I would think it's a bad idea as I read that it don't like heat. It also can't be cut because heat damages it. It has to be drilled with tungsten carbide as it's such a hard steel too.

Re: Connecting Deck To Cargo Container

If you remember what I wrote before, I said Iwas waiting for a faster connection today. And now I have it (broadband vs.dial-up). The attachment thing is not letting me upload anything. Is there another way to do this? It keeps saying that it failed.

Getting older creates that ornery and cantankerous to been-there let it slide, ain't worth it roller coaster.

A glorious ride, eh...

Re: Connecting Deck To Cargo Container

I was able to upload some pictures with the cargo containers to my website - don't know why it doesn't work here. If you go there, click on my pro profile at houzz and look under the new contruction project - they should be there. Please feel free to post them here, as I can't.

I don't take credit for anything that is framed or looks strange - not my house.

you have to resize your pic,
1) open them w/paint.net, go to image
2) resize change top button on pixels to 800 and maintain aspect ration.
sounds complicated but it is all there as you click to each step

Do a Google search for storage container houses. Really incredible design on some of them. This thread has got me interested in these. I just sketched up a preliminary design. Was reading on another site about the pro's and con's of these. A lot to to consider and research for sure.

Re: Connecting Deck To Cargo Container

I think they would be great for up north type cabins buried in a hillside, same w/desert areas, any remote area that requires quick "drop in " type housing, it could be compartmentalized, linked together for a quick set up.
