Composite Decking Advise

I'm looking to do two decks over with a composite material (32x12 and 12x14). Has anyone used the GAF composite recently? A local distributor currently has it in stock for $2 per ft/ln. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Composite Decking Advise

Nothing is more expensive than cheap composite except, maybe, pressure treated lumber. I'd rather install PT than cheap composite because I at least know all the ways it's likely to fail.

Anyway, I'd do the job for tree fiddy.

Re: Composite Decking Advise

I probably should have explained myself better... I do interior finish work, painting and tile. Exterior work, especially decks are not my expertise. I am looking to re-do these decks at my home. With 3 small children, I'd like to go with a composite to avoid splintering that my currant PT has. Just looking to see if anyone has used the GAF product and whether or not it's any good. Naturally, the distributors is claiming it's the best thing since sliced bread! Thanks guys...

4 a moment there, I thought Bambie had stumbled into the hunting lodge!

Ditto the info... there are better options at that price point.

Fiberon Horizon, Fiberon Pro-Tect. Or if your yard is offering a deal on the Dura Life SIESTA collection then that would be an option too.

Love it. Especially the ReliaBoard for a cost effective option, and EarthWood Evolutions on the higher end...

Too expensive for what you get (at least in my environment) I get horizon for $3 LF and TT (EE) is close to $4 LF and I don't like the colors as much.

Robert,
Just the opposite here............. TT is the cheaper option compared to Fiberon by about .50-60 cents per l.f.

Re: Composite Decking Advise

TimberTech is quality product but real high over here compaired to Moisture Shield.

MS might be lower because the transport is so short.
