Re: Advice On Build A Deck Using Trex Decking

This may sound wrong but you actually use less fasteners when boards are layed at 45 degrees framed with 12" centers.

Every once in a while.

Azeks just came out with 7" and 3.5 inch deck boards. You can now do patterns using all three widths.

I wished they had 7" and 3.5" for the timbertech pro line up. Be really useful for some 13 inch steps I need to do.
I had no idea they had so many grades, I counted 9 not included the uncapped reliaboard (uncapped its not reliable )

My suppliers are damn slow getting back to me on prices for composite decking. Really need a sheet with the prices.

That would be an interesting look for a deck. Is the 7 still the same cost per bf?

Re: Advice On Build A Deck Using Trex Decking

Trex is just too expensive out here to be competitive. At their price point they are competing against Azek in costs. Deckorators is huge here, but I've seen too many issues over last spring, summer, and fall that I quit using it.

Never worked with timbertech, but I heard that it scratches too easily. Anyone have feedback on that?

Re: Advice On Build A Deck Using Trex Decking

OP, I meant to mention this yesterday and forgot. I bought a big 4' square on Amazon for a random PITA framing job we did. Didn't think I'd ever use it again, but the guys use it all the time. Works wonders on 45 degree decking, making that first board fast and easy to lay out. We used to just measure off corners, but it's easier to just open the square and line everything up.

Can't get Amazon link for some reason, but search Hanson 4' layout square

I had a scuffing issue with Timbertech when I last used it. I didn't even want to walk on it.

hahaha, I hate pricing composite decking. 4 brands and each have at least 4 or 5 types with 7 colors for each of those types. with no pricing upfront!
I much rather quote cedar

I just tell people I only build with Trex and I have a price for select and a price for Transcends.

I know product knowledge and trex good so that helps.
