Prime And Texture Over Painted Splatter Ceiling Texture

Hey Guys, Gals

Heres one for you..
the contractor removed the kitchen cubords, and now there is a ridge from where the cubords were, he tired to patch it and make it look like the rest of the ceiling, but you can still see the shape of the outline. He painted the ceiling in hopes that it would make it beter
Now the want us to see what we can do...
my suggestion to him was to knock down any loos particals, there is not many, and rough up with 80 g and prime. Texture with knockdown.
He is fine with that, but i am going to prefill and feather out the area of concern.

I am concerened that the primer will not bite onto the roughed up surface...any suggestions?

I think you'd be fine, Ive done similar things without even priming, you can get away with so much with texture and still produce a quality job.
