Drywall On Studs Won't Line Up With Base

I have a detached garage in my backyard. I want to drywall the interior. The base that the studs are framed on is concrete, then a 2x6 for the base between the concrete and the studs. The studs are 2x4, so when I go to drywall, the drywall (at the base of the garage) won't line up with the width of the base. I'm probably just going to drywall and live with the uneven drywall to the base.

Does this make sense to anyone? I don't really want to put wood spacers to even it out. I'm going to run my electrical and install the receptacle boxes on the studs.

Is it OK just to drywall on the studs as is?

Fairly common detail in a garage.

If you don't want to fur the wall out just trim out the sill plate when you're done with the drywall.

Just think of it as a good start to a multi step baseboard.

Tell the taper to fix it and give him a lot of mud.

Your ok, if you do run the rock to the concrete make sure you have a space between. The rock will wick the moisture out of the crete and do bad things.

How about you run the electric and hire a guy that hangs rock???

First real laugh I have had in a while...this made me think of my buddy who passed away this month..actually June 30th...he was my drywall guy..and he was a great guy...we used to work alongside each other on remodels all the time and I would be doing something else while he was hanging or mudding/taping in the room we just finished.

I would always say in a loud voice when we got to a unique issue (like 2x6 plate with 2x4 stud).." crap, leave it for the taper..I allowed for extra mud on that bid"...and from the next room you would always hear in a quiet voice but loud enough to be heard "mud and tape caulk and paint make the carpenter what he ain't"...to which I would reply "you been making me look good for so long I actually believe myself when I say I am a carpenter".

I miss you buddy..my friend...46 years old..

Gary got paid on June 8th to head out to play in a pool tournament..he was very good..I wished him luck..he started coughing on the way and blood came up..GF took him to the hospital..he ruptured something and they discovered liver cancer when they opened him up..he went to Hospice on June 22..passed on the 30th..3 weeks from last day with me..I still had his tools on a job...

So thanks for the laugh...first time in a while.

Or hang boards on the 2x4, then float out the entire wall to the 2x6 :P I joke, but I've seen some massive float outs.

Yes, it's just a garage. Prime and paint the 2x6 or just leave it alone. I8t's going to be a dirt/dustcollector anyway
