What Came In The Mail Today

So I got a sample limestone firebrick in the mail today! Whoa this is the nicest looking brick. Now to find a way to use them. On edge were looking at about 800 bucks for a firebox!

Imagine the sticker shock for 2 3/8" on the flat

Would look absolutely gorgeous however!

Where did it come from? I got my countertop slab from a company in jersey..they had firebrick but they cost $9 a piece. I would really love to do a wood oven with those someday....I should start collecting cans or something.

edit: I blew up the pic and saw the location.
edit#2 : wow...these are even more...pass! nice though!

Oh, it's up there......did a house with three of them! They have NO suction, so bringing in the fireback goes a little slower, but they are beautiful......

Hey Rock, are the saw cut faces meant to be laid showing, when laid on the flat, or do they come thermalled or whatnot.

Re: What Came In The Mail Today

wonder if it would be cheaper to buy slabs and do a solid back. there would be a lot of waste on the angle cut but might still come in under 800

Re: What Came In The Mail Today

I get mine from an outfit in RI. The material comes from Brazil. I think I paid $6 a brick a couple years ago. 4.5" X 9"
Yes it's $800 for the materials, BUT, it's a soapstone box and looks beautiful!

Re: What Came In The Mail Today

Not great pics, but a box I did 3-4 years ago.

Here's another. This one we build completely from the outside of the house.

Here's a better pic of the big one.
