This was for non-stucco work bonding new cement to old.

Re: Stucco Finish Question

To the OP: first find out what products you can get your hands on.

Around here, I can get single bags of Quikrete products, but only special order through Lowes. My masonry supply house will order in minipallets.

There are always better products out there, and there a ton of specialty stucco manufacturers. I'm using Quikrete because one minipallets isn't enough, and I'd never use 2 minipallets up. I hope.

Make sure you know whether the existing stucco used one of the polymer top coats or if it was painted.

The old paint is peeling so probably painted... What difference does it make?

You can't stick stucco to peeling paint, and depending on the paint, you may not get a good bond to sound paint.

Matching the patch to existing is going to be darn near impossible if you can't get stucco on it without it peeling later.
