"He is believed to have climbed up the ladder to the top of the chimney."

Anything else?

Or a buzzed guy on a mission.

I knew a guy who climbed a water tower to take a leak.

Re: Man Found At Top Of Chimney.

I was back in my home town recently and almost took a pic.

We used to climb the high tension towers to whiz, and make bets whose motorcycle helmet would survive the drop. Bell or Buco. Got expensive fast.

Pretty much gave up the helmet drop for beer runs. Had to find a buyer, or somebody's old man's stash.

My wife asked me why a fireman didn't just put him over his shoulder in a fireman's lift and carry him down.

These Herculean efforts to retrieve dead bodies is on par with bringing them down from Everest, they just endanger the rescue personnel.

For some perspective:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dixon'...d_Shaddon_Mill

"The mill and chimney were constructed in 1836."
"The chimney was restored by Carlisle City Council in 1999. Originally it was 305 feet (93 m) tall, but in 1950 it was shortened to 290 feet (88 m). "
"Two initial rescue plans, the first involving a coastguard helicopter and the second to send rescuers up the ladder were both dismissed as they both could have led to the man being dislodged and falling"

Me personally: I would not send, nor allow one of my guys to go up that ladder, let alone the doubled risk of carrying someone - or a body back down.

Whether due to being drunk, stoned, or suicidal, the guy pulled a stunt, and he paid for it with his life.

PCP. Making the impossible possible. He was already dead, they could've just cut the rope. I mean hell, hanging upside down, dead for hours isn't really conducive to an open casket funeral anyway.

I'd probably get whacked for being sarcastic.
Plus I'm used to her coming out with some interesting quotes.
The first time I brought a second hand computer home, she wouldn't have it in the house as she thought they contained a virus.
