I guess it gives new meaning to the term "busted by the cops".

In the Philly region, that usually refers to cheese steaks, etc.

Lots of restaurants up there advertise "Steaks, Fries" and words like that. It usually means the same thing...cheese-steaks!

Re: Damn, My Favorite Steak Shop

I remember a Texas Ranger bragging that the average TR wrecked a radio Patrol car EVERY YEAR while speaking to a J.High Texas history class. ( Circa 1977?).

Many police/ LEO agencies have very weak or non-existent control of their driving behavior. I Got a badge, the Laws DON"T apply to me...thinking.

Here in flyover land, We had a local Barney Fife that totaled three cruisers(10,000.00$+) chasing MOPEDS for 25.00$ tickets.....Early 1980s

But, you drive 7 hours a day in town, YOU will get in wrecks.

Trust, But Verify. Especially LEOs

It's like any other profession. Depends on the training. I've seen some badass driving by cops. Especially Motor Patrol.

Re: Damn, My Favorite Steak Shop

One will see Law enforcement agencies using self driving software to "free" the Patrol-person for actual policing...
fewer collateral damage: Blue on Taxpayer injuries/deaths.
More One person Patrol Cars..

License Plate readers will become standard, pretty much ending the Era of suspended drivers driving and un insured operating for more than a few days...

The Uber Nanny State is HERE.

Love to see the officers chest and vehicle camera footage AND his air bag computer memory records of his driving during the accident...

I'm pretty sure the # 1 or 2 cause of death of Rangers/State troopers in the late 1970s-80s was car wrecks.

Many years more cops die in car crashes then die from criminal's acts.

Most stats don't count driving to work.

Policing has gotten much (~50%) safer since 1970s, especially when 9-11 deaths are considered an Act of War.

RE: original post, looks like the masonry prevented the Patrol Car from doing further damage, might have saved a customer inside from an ambulance ride.

Re: Damn, My Favorite Steak Shop

License plate readers are already the standard, they are installed in the lightbar and scan in all directions. Cheaper to upgrade the lightbar on a fleet of cars than anything else. I've heard at least around here most local cops turn the bells off because they just keep going off on parked cars and the like. Maybe that's just wishful thinking tho.

Here in Chicago they have vans to scan all of the parked cars on the streets for unpaid parking violations to Boot them. The computer can scan license plates when cars are parked bumper to bumper something like 12 inches from each other while the van drives 30mph and alerts the driver that they found a vehicle in violation so they can boot it

Itís the same thing when you park at OíHare or midway airport when you Pull in the computer automatically scans your license plate and when you get home from your trip your car will be booted in the parking garage
