Topcon Total Station

Someone mentioned in the PLS Giveaway thread that they would like to have a Topcon Total Station. Coincidentally, I have one I would like to sell.

Nice try, but I'm not falling for it this time!

The last time you put something up for sale here, you cost me a bunch of money! :

Re: Topcon Total Station

I'm pretty sure I don't want to know what that costs.

And doesn't it take like a year of training to even operate one of those things?

Re: Topcon Total Station

I've done some really basic surveying on my own properties, with a compass, tape, transit, and a bunch of math.

Just for gits and shiggles, I decided to look up a Total Station last year. I think the first one I found was either a David White or CST.

$130,000.00.

Edit: It was probably a Leica, or something. And it was a GPS surveyor.

Head on over to the Lieca website and that place is for your eyes only not your wallet unless of course you're more than a hobbyist!

Re: Topcon Total Station

One thing about the total stations - when they say a point is there, then you can be sure that it's there. Fancy stuff, but extremely accurate. Mine is a one man station. Once it is set up it follows you. You don't need another person looking through a lens telling you which way to move. You set the pole with the prism on it on a point and check the screen attached to the pole. The screen will show an arrow pointing the direction that you need to move, and how far you need to move. At least that's the way I remember it.

Re: Topcon Total Station

we are looking for a construction layout tool to give us grid points on a large building. we have been interested in some hilti products and the tapcon LN100. . we are not surveyors, so system must be easy to use.
