What Happened To My Avatar? READ THIS

One of the first things you may notice about the new site is that your old avatar might look a little funky. We did our best to import the old avatars but some of them look a little rough. All the avatars (now called Profile Pictures) are square and can be a little higher quality than before. If your profile picture doesn't look right please follow the following steps.

Step 1
Click on the My Account drop down in the upper right hand corner of the page and click on your Profile Picture. You can also get here by clicking on your Profile Picture on your profile page.

Name: step1.jpg
Views: 479
Size: 97.3 KB

Step 2
Click Browse and select a file from your computer.

What happened to my Avatar? READ THIS-step2.jpg

Step 3
If you'd like to resize or crop your image click the Resize link under your image.

What happened to my Avatar? READ THIS-step3.jpg

Pretty simple right? Let me know if you need help or need an old file from the old site.

Thanks!

Re: What Happened To My Avatar? READ THIS

Just a note on this...

As with others, my avatar was transferred to the new site with nothing changed other than the fact that the ends of my ears were lopped off. Since that was a bit uncomfortable, I uploaded another version with the prescribed square aspect ratio.

The ears were fine, but the entire image was "faded" because antialiasing was used on the uploaded image. I had to nearly triple the thickness of the lines in order to make it look anything like the old one.

If your avatar is a line drawing or contains relatively small text, it will most likely suffer the same fate for now. The issue has been reported and is being looked into.

Just a quick bump. When you get a chance please update your avatars with the new system. They will look a lot better.

Thanks!

Re: What Happened To My Avatar? READ THIS

I am having trouble trying to upload a new avatar picture from my computer. It is a JPEG that I have re-sized to 120 x160, I have tried several photos with no luck, every time I get HTTP error message.

I attached photo to this post with no problems.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Wayne

Re: What Happened To My Avatar? READ THIS

Not that it has a bearing on that error, but your avatar pic should be square. What's the file size? Exactly what does the error message say?

Re: What Happened To My Avatar? READ THIS

The file size is 10.5 KB.

The picture seems to upload fine, gets to 100% then an error message pops up saying HTTP error.

Thanks,
Wayne

I'm not sure what the issue is to be honest. I just tried myself and it uploaded to your profile just fine.

That's actually why we have an image resize. You can crop the photo to square after you upload it. So, any size should work as long as the image is big enough to be cropped.

Re: What Happened To My Avatar? READ THIS

I have had no luck uploading a photo for the profile picture.

Step 1 is easy.

Step 2 where this thread shows a "browse" link, that button does not show up on my screen. There is literally no option that I can click on at the stet 2 stage.

I tried it in Google Chrome & IE.

What's my next step.

Thanks

What do you suggest I do. I've tried different photos with similar results.
Thanks

Great!
I'll send it to you in an email later. How do I change my user name as it appears above my profile picture?
