Re: No More "Edit" Button

What's done isn't changing. At this point it's simply trying to get a point across. So there are very few like me who are worried about grammatical posts. Yet, I feel not many have read as much of CT as I have and I can safely say, the situation in which this new policy is being blamed on doesn't happen often either.

Both points have merit. Neither are common. Brings the thought of why both to implement any policy in regards to editing in the first place?

In theory, it's a great concept. The practice of isn't going to bring more integrity on the interwebs.

You're on to something here. I can quote to edit your posts and you can do the same in return.

Don't go blaming this on me. Next thing you know, I'll be in the Vancouver newspapers stating how I'm responsible for society's melt down of inaccurate threads. I might get my grammar nazi license yanked.

And yes, when I had a shiny badge, I used to go and spell check each and every thread title.

That's probably what's different now.

Re: No More "Edit" Button

I heard OHD is next in line. Beside, like when a pope dies, they crush your CT badge when you're done.

I was wondering if anything was in the works to limit inaccurate posts here. There are certain section filled with incorrect info. Those are really a downer to forum integrity.

I believe some national flooring guy wanted to sue someone over inaccurate statements. I once looked up forum libel but was told it's not illegal to hurt feelings. I now wear big boy pants when posting on the interwebs but I still take my spelling seriously. Punctuation is a close 2nd.

Re: No More "Edit" Button

I am reading all of the arguments here in favor of having the edit button active indefinitely, and everything that has been said makes perfect sense BUT it seems like all of the reasoning behind needing to edit a post can and should be done in that 30-minute time span.

If you can't find your mistakes or change your mind or amend your post in 30 minutes, you essentially said what you meant to say.

Re: No More "Edit" Button

My argument in the back room has been "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". I personally didn't see any reason to change it. This is just petty to change this function. Just my opinion.
