Hello From Northeastern PA

Hello everyone! I came across this site from a link while I was researching a plumbing estimating book. After lurking for a few days, I really liked the site and some of the articles, so why not join..right? I live in the northeastern part of PA...the Poconos. After high school I worked for several electricians for approx. 10 years. I then took a few years off from construction to drive a tractor/trailer. I kind of liked driving, but couldn't stop thinking about construction. I quit driving and started working for a plumber, which is where, 10 years later I still am. Since the beginning of the year, the plumber I work for has been suggesting I slowly start thinking of starting my own business. He's been showing/telling me pricing and estimating. I acquired a liabilitly policy, business name, and a PA contractor registration #. Now have to start saving my pennies for a van. Have a great day everyone.

Hi CRV, I know the Poconos quite well. I wonder if you're in the Hideout. Good luck in your new ventures.......

Supahflid, My opinion on sharkbites is that I think they're big, bulky, and expensive. I only like them for two things so far: Air testing water supply stub outs, after the test is complete, I just reuse them for the next test..easy on and off I suppose. The other time, I had to relocate a water heater for a day while I piped a new boiler, and then do the permenant tie in.

Jimmy Cabinet, I know where the hideout is, I repiped a house up the street from there this winter. I live maybe a 1/2 hour from there

Hey, crv, welcome to the site, and good luck on your venture.
It's great your boss, is helping out and pushing you in the right direction.

I'm in central Bucks, but have been through Milford, many times.

I can't think of the name, just now, but have stopped in that sports bar in town, for wings, to many times, with an almost 2 hours drive, along the river, to go.

D.

That's funny, we're heading the other way when everyone's heading down here. Where do you go?

We go to Wildwood crest. We usually get the same house every year. Lots of good times and memories from there..

I do alot of work in the Crest. And I live 2 blocks from the beach so I guess I take it for granted. I prefer the mountains if I had to choose.

Re: Hello From Northeastern PA

I hear what your saying! I run into tons of people not from my area, that when they find out where I'm from they say " oh yeah, I go up there and canoe down the Delaware". I live a stones throw from the river, and think I've only gone down it once, more then 30 years ago. Funny how that stuff works.

Water Gap is one of the most beautiful drives on the East Coast, River Road is what I take home when I want to take the "scenic route".

There is some really good discussion in the plumbing section about sharkbites. You should bump the thread.

The Delaware Water Gap is beautiful during the fall.
I usually go through the Poconos a few times a month on my to the city or the shore.
