Got Questions? I Have Answers!

Hello,

My name is Phil. I would like to offer my assistance to the members in the area of California Licensing.

I worked at the CSLB for 5 years in both Enforcement and Licensing and I think my knowledge and experience may be a benefit to the members.

If you have questions regarding licensing or enforcement issues as they pertain to California, I'd be happy to give my opinion and advice.

Thank you.

Sorry... I'm lacking greatly in the way of Title 24.

Sí, tenemos todavía las aplicaciones en inglés.

The C-35 Lath & Plastering classification includes wire mesh installation. Are you looking to just install the wire mesh and not the stucco application?

If you apply for this class and take the test, the test will cover all portions of this classification. I'm sure you already know that, just making sure.

Go to this page and click on the C-35 link for a full description.

I am taking my General Contractors B license trade exam next month

Would you happen to know where i can receive a more detailed study guide for the test? Ive already paid to get study guides from a contractors school

Ive passed my law and business exam and just need more help on how to pass the trade exam.

The best studying for whats actually going to be on the test.

Thanks for your help and godbless

You are suppose to know that stuff from your experience. I believe there are 5000 questions and they pick 250 randomly. Kinda hard to study for that. Good luck!

Re: Got Questions? I Have Answers!

Hi! I am working on becoming licensed as a general contractor in California. I have 10+ years of experience as a journeyman in NY. I finally have an opportunity to start something up myself and getting licensed is the first thing on the list. I have spoken to 2 of my previous employers and I am working on getting the certifications and filling out my application which I gather is no easy task lol In the mean time, Id like to start studying for the law and trade (b) exams. Can you recommend any schools/home study/ references that have proven to be great and effective? I ordered the law book recommended by the cslb however i feel like taking practice questions etc will be more effective than just reading. Also, if you have any input on sole prop vs llc vs s-corp, i would appreciate it. Sorry for the lenghty post and than you all in advance!

Re: Got Questions? I Have Answers!

Hi bpolak,

Welcome to CT.

I offer study kits that have helped many CT members pass the exams. Click on my avatar to the left to get my web address.

Sole vs corp? More personal liability protection with a corporation, sub chapter S. Sole prop taxes can be higher.
