Very Strange!

Wife and I went out for the evening, came back to the car and all four windows were down and the trunk was open !!!!!

Nothing was stolen or out of place. When we saw the trunk open we thought maybe I hit the FOB but when all the windows were down also, that was a little weird and spooky.

There's no way on God's green earth we would've rolled down all the windows. Any reason this would happen? Will they think I'm nuts at the dealership? Should I do nothing and wait? it's only got 25k miles on it. The warranty expires at 50k.

Re: Very Strange!

There are people here driving through mall parking lots hacking the electronic systems in cars. I was told this by a cop in a town with a large mall. They are trying to see exactly how much they can control on the cars. I think he said it is usually cars with a canbus electronics system. That is how many high end cars are stolen now

Re: Very Strange!

My Honda Accord rolls down all of the windows if you double-click and hold the unlock button. As far as I know most/all Hondas do this. Is yours a Honda?

Very similar feature to that Cadillac option Peter_C mentioned.

It's pretty handy on a hot day to start venting the hot air while you're walking up to it.

Re: Very Strange!

I read somewhere that you are better off using the lock button in the car. Then some one can't hack your fob code.

Re: Very Strange!

The trunk problem happened with my DTS often, I had to pay more attention to the way I put the keys in my pocket that the keys weren't on the buttons.

Re: Very Strange!

One or the other might be an accidental trip of the feature, but both is most likely an warning sign that someone is using one of those electronic boxes they've been talking for a year two now that push-button start cars especially are very vulnerable to... Your dealer might already be aware of your make/model issue and may have a "patch" or suggestion...

Re: Very Strange!

Cadillac right? I think both functions are capable with the key FOB. Possibly hit the right buttons for the right amount of time in your pocket?

Sounds like what could have happened. Although it may have been solo

Mike, the dealer, or any high end shop with OEM level software, can turn that open all windows feature off. Of course there will be a cost of probably an hours labor which I am guessing Caddy charges at least $145.00 an hour. On the other hand if this is the first time it may not be much of an issue.

This is the third one I've bought from them. They take pretty good care of me.

Re: Very Strange!

did you piss off the the onstar guy LOL

My Dads Lincoln will do some weird things when the fob batteries are going dead, like the trunk opening when you lock it, and last year while he was unable to drive they got real low , door locks contently locking (ran battery down) Have auto window off , around here its so dusty you dont want them down.

Re: Very Strange!

I used to have a remote start for my Jeep. The guy I bought it from showed me how to use it but I was yessing him to death so I could get out of there quicker. Totally forgot how to use it. The only time I ever started the thing with the remote was sitting on ass watching football. Roommate came inside and asked why the Jeep was running the driveway.
Stupid technology.

Re: Very Strange!

The trick is to be able disable the features.

Re: Very Strange!

well if it's Lincoln then you disable crap in the info center , HOWEVER if the battery in car gets below I think it's 9.6 volts or is disconnected then all settings go to default. Don't know but i assume others are the same.

Have a buddy who yanked the crap out of his D-max because it was always starting itself for no reason , he said he came out once and it had been running all night and used enuf fuel to be noticable
