Just Learned Ford Stopped Making The Econoline.

Man, what a bummer. What a run! What a shame.

The quest for a modern vehicle that carries stuff and doesn't look like butt continues.

Re: Just Learned Ford Stopped Making The Econoline.

Van shopping is how I learned about this.
Ford has the best looking cargo vans since 2009.
Dodge and Chevy's decision to make their bumpers look like swollen collagen lips is baffling to me. It's so ugly.
I'm sure the Promaster is great, but it's unspeakably ugly.
Isn't style part of this whole thing?
I thought we were trying to improve homes?

Probably should get a Greenbriar. At least it's interesting.

FYI: They also quit making the compact Rangers back in '12.

My van is just another tool in my arsenal to efficiently get my jobs done

If i need to boost my ego or my man card i can drive my 2500hd around for a bit!!!!, it usually just sits there until i need to tow something

I had a pallet of bricks put in the back of a 1992 E150 I had. Rode a little low.

Vans are for living down by the river in. Or handing out candy.

Wasn't there a recent van living trend, such as refurbing and using VW's, plus new ones? Don't hear about it anymore. They had a good social media run touting the van life.

I squashed my poor G20 earlier this year bringing concrete debris to the transfer station. Astonished I didn't pop a tire.

Mark, Van Life is still alive and well. I made a friend a few months back when he parked his hippy van in front of my place. I saw a Corona paint brush in it and said, "you free tomorrow?"

Re: Just Learned Ford Stopped Making The Econoline.

I would guess that the "free" billboard makes a van very attractive for advertising. A step van is probably too large for painters.

Re: Just Learned Ford Stopped Making The Econoline.

I have had a number of Ford E150 over the years. Had one when first started out , worked but hated have to cram everything into it. Then I moved up to a large step van, that worked really good for a number of years, it gets used now for storing material in at a job now. 8x20 trailer now even though it is hard to park on some jobs would not go back.

I've been doing a lot of custom closet work which involves receiving flat packed deliveries of multiple jobs at a time. Keeping them separated, organized, and undamaged has become a large part of my life.
I've been thinking that a custom outfitted step van or box truck would be fantastic for this.
The rub is that I wouldn't be able to drive that as my personal vehicle, which I do with my van.
That leads me to needing another truck for personal use/ estimating, which leads me to needing a bigger driveway, which leads me to searching for commercial lots for sale in my area, which leads me to thoughts of scalability, which leads me to drinking on weeknights and going to bed wracked with anxiety.

I wake up in the morning to find my truck loaded with too much stuff, and the cycle continues.

Around here, most have no markings at all.

Btw, now's a good time to buy Ford stock. It's very cheap. Play the Covid rebound.
