Georgia Trailer Registration Question

I've been in Los Angeles for 35 years and finally moving out, to South Carolina.
I'm looking at a nice cargo trailer that is reasonably priced. The seller is here in LA but is from Georgia and the trailer has Georgia plates on it. He is saying that the state of Georgia does not require nor issue paper titles for this type of trailer, and that a bill of sale is all that is required to transfer ownership, even in CA. The trailer does have a VIN.

Any Georgia boys on here own trailers? Is this true? No paper titles for Georgia trailers?

Re: Georgia Trailer Registration Question

I'm not from there but as far as I know what he is saying is true. You will need bill of sale and vin from trailer and you should be good to register it in any state.

Re: Georgia Trailer Registration Question

I bought my trailer new from GA and in the packet is one paper "Bill of Sale" which is just basically a receipt that says how much I paid, date I paid, and serial number.
Then there is a more "official" looking document "Certificate of Origin For a Vehicle" that while it doesn't say "Title" it sure looks like one.
Has all the info for year, make, model, VIN, manufacturer, and the back has four areas of ownership info if I sell it to someone, a section for
odometer disclosure, and lienholder.

Now I registered it in NJ and did not get a NJ title.
