What Have You Stolen From A Jobsite?

Ok, maybe not stolen... let's say, acquired.

Showed up to a new job once and found a 20'(didn't know they made those) Powerlock II left out in the yard, in the rain. It was pretty rusted, but I brought it back to life. Asked every contractor on the job if it was there's, but nobody claimed it.
Perfect glovebox-sized ruler.

Score one for thievery.

Found a really nice Fuller pipe wrench in a dumpster at a whole house cleanout. Rusted pretty solid, but nothing some WD and steel wool couldn't fix. Another solid score. Also found a No. 60 3/4 chisel in that pile. Good pickin that day!

Re: What Have You Stolen From A Jobsite?

I always remember my grandfather telling me about one of his coworkers in the ship yard. Because of theft, the shipyard had a guard check everyone before leaving. A couple days a week this coworker would take home a galvanized bucket of sawdust, and each time the guard would dump it out and look through it, but never would find anything. This went on for a month or so, and finally my grandfather asked, why do you keep taking sawdust home? The guy told him, I'm stealing the buckets.

Sounds like an urban legend. Similar story in the old batman cartoons. Wheelbarrows and something.

I once found a nice old clamp with "Made in USA" stamp on a flip.
I bet none of you will get a chance to buy anything close to as solid and sturdy as that clamp these days.

Am I missing something? Where did he say he stole something? The way I read it, it was either in the dumpster or out in the yard in the rain and nobody claimed it.

Re: What Have You Stolen From A Jobsite?

My dudes... it's a joke. Parody post. Relax.

There's another thread in this subforum called "What have you had stolen from a jobsite?"
I flipped it into what have you stolen. It's a joke. Relax. Roll with it. I'm not advocating theft. If I was I'd have kept the government job I had when I was younger.
I once found a tape measure in a yard. That's the extent of it. Relax.

We cool?

So back to it... what's your best found object?

I found the greatest pair of slim needle nose pliers after cliff jumping into the Delaware River. Total dumb luck. I jumped, swam to shore, and waiting for me was a fantastic pair of pliers in the mud. Great score.

I was given a pair of 6" C clamps from the last job I was on. Does that count?
