Are d-backs lighter than fat lip occys?

Weight would be the only advantage I could see. I try to cut weight where I can, I carry a mini 14 stiletto, 11" flat bar and cats paw both stiletto as well. I'm very efficient working out of it and it is lighter than leather but if I could shave a few pounds it would be worth the investment.

The problem with dioamand backs is the 6 week lead time .

Has anyone tried the Occidental Deep Clip-On Pouch

View attachment 104010

Thinking about getting a few so I can switch out things like H-clips and hanger nails.

just grabbed a non-deep clip-on pouch after they stocked them in the one store around here. it's perfect for my tape and I could see using it for fasteners in the future. the clip is very strong, and what Oxy doesn't mention/advertise is that their clip-on pouches also have a 2" belt loop on the back if you wanna slide it on your belt. very good quality bag. especially for $15.

I haven't had bags on in 5 months. I got a pair of bjornklader ace carpenter pants. I have one pair been worn and washed daily in that time. And I still have no holes in them. The only thing I dont like about them is still working on a place for my flat bar. But just orderd 4 more pairs. I don't ever plan on havig bags on ever again. Besr 100 bucks ever spent imo.
those things are gonna rip your hips! If u load them to much, it's standard in Sweden whit those pants but we were toolbelts anyway.

The clip on pouch from oxy is not worth the money. I bought one as a fourth fastner bag and it holds next to nothing and always falls off. I slid the rear bag from an old set on and slid my hammer loop over by my right bag.
How much would you say they hold. I'm only looking for a hand full of hanger nails and maybe 15 or so h-clips in the other

I never thought of combining DBs and oxys. Thanks for the idea. My biggest issue is comfort. I have a set of leather kuny bags that do the job but even with suspenders they become very uncomfortable as the day goes on. It's just all a bit heavy. My other problem is finding a belt that fits me. I'm not a big guy and it seems most belts are designed for someone substantially larger than me.

I've been turned off of leather because of the weight but I'd like to look into oxys as they seem to be a popular choice here, I just need to find a local distributor so I can try a few out. If they make a comfortable belt than maybe I can just order the DB bags that I like to go with it.

EDIT: I was just looking at the oxy website and noticed their nylon sets. The black belt rough framer looks like it would be the ideal set for me. A decent belt, functional pouches, and it's lightweight. It's just too bad the only local distributor is only open on weekdays and only during work hours.

I wear Bjornklader pants everyday also. I use an 1 1/2" wide occi belt with them and my hips feel fine. A 10 oz stiletto helps keep the weight down. For remodeling work they are perfect IMO. Tool bags aren't really ideal in finished houses. The only time I pull out my bags is when I'm framing or roofing and want a lot of extra nails on me.

The bags are awesome.

Toss the belt. It's junk.
EDIT:

Just took some pics. After ~2 years of framing with it, the bags are still going strong. Switched out for the Kunys belt from the brown leather rig I used to have. Added the kunys knife holder, being used for my cats paw. Lost 2 of the suspender rings, so I can't use my occidental suspenders with it any more, using the Kunys ones for now.

Only one corner of the bags is wearing down.
