For those of you that have used them, can they be used to cut subflooring that originally ran underneath the cabinets. Or are they just for the toekicks only. Thanks in advance.
Yep, I got the crain & it will cut flush along any wall. Toekick, end cabinet or just along the wall. Be careful not to get kickback with it, it can & will get away from ya quick when it does & if you're working on a nice floor, you'll have more repairs to make.
Thanks for the info. I was hoping that it would work for this application. I guess i will have to go look for some new tools now. Funny how that works out.
This is one of the very few times I would actually recommend the HF tool. I have the Crain and a buddy of mine has the HF. For the price difference (HUGE) factoring in how often I've actually had to use it (4-5 times last 5+ years) it's a no-brainer imo. Get the 2 year warranty HF offers for like 8 bucks and don't look back. Buy extra blades, you WILL need them. I also use a Fein for the corners.
I've never used the cheap HF one. Didn't even know they made one till years after I bought my crain. But you're right, it doesn't come outta the trailer very often. But when I need it, it's a nice tool to own. If I were in cooks position, I'd buy the cheapo too.
Thanks for the info. I will check into both brands, i can see where i will probably not need to use it very often, but then i have a large job coming up. Maybe just buy the cheap and have extra blades on hand. Thanks again,
okay i am looking to buy one of these however the hf is only 1 hp and the crain is 2.5.......................................i am thinking the more hp the better gimme some thoughts on that
i only charge 45 a hour. it will take me less then 2 hrs to go to harbor freight and back. thats a little less then $90 trip charge. not bad price for the hf one. but for the time to return it for a new one i'll keep my craine. fein for corner
