I don't find that strange. I carry a Cold Steel machete. Sometimes two. Even 1055 carbon steel can get dull ... it beats running to Home Dopey to rent a Brush Hawg ... for anywhere from a few minutes to an hour of swinging.

Besides, being an old fart ... I write it off as keeping in shape.

Now I want a machete.

My only bad vibe about machete was when I was doing a job for one of my clients and he called a guy to help him clean up the yard. He came with a beat up car. Took out the tools from trunk and started to clean the yard. Terry asked him if he has something to trim the bushes in front. He was like sure, walk up to the passenger door picked up machete from under the seat and started walking back to the house.
I remeber the owners face, he didn't know if he should run or cry.

For some reason the owner was very nice to the guy till the end of the day. Haha

Needed a second one. Used it today. Pretty impressed with the dust vault. Only downside is reduced visibility to the bit.

I'm campaigning to the powers that be. The boss was receptive when I brought it up though so it's off to a good start.

I don't have to campaign to you lot. Everyone here will say yes. You're all a bunch of enablers.

I used to harvest small "forests" of bamboo with a machete when I lived in South America for awhile. It's common practice for people to "mow" the lawn with them too. It certainly is a lot of work, but a skilled person can do a lot with that basic tool.

You do realize it's much better to ask for forgiveness then ask for permission.

I looked at that, so it works pretty well at keeping dust down?
