Other Than Festool - Best Jobsite 12" SCMS And Portable Table Saw

I've been saving up to replace my DW 708 and 744 which I sold back in 2010.

So if I stay with DeWalt (because of the black and yellow thing) I was looking at the DWS780

.

.

and the DW744XRS

I am NOT a finish carpenter so this would be for accuracy from 1/16 to exact (and not necessarily EXACT every time). I may do some framing or decks mostly.

I'm open to whatever y'all who are currently out there making it happen think. I haven't kept up with tools for the last 3 years (well almost). I am a bit curious about the Bosch with the dual articulated arms, instead of sliding rails.

I await the consensus of the brotherhood.

Thanks in advance

I have the 10" sliding Makita and I like it a lot. I want to get the sliding 7 1/4 Makita but haven't pulled the trigger on that yet.

Re: Other Than Festool - Best Jobsite 12" SCMS And Portable Table Saw

It sounds as though you might want to go back to the DeWalt with the miter saw. I dedicated mine (DW718) for framing those little playhouses I build and feel it does a great job in that aspect. It did a great job (IMO) with finish carpentry but I wanted to get a different saw for finish since I would be using it for framing .

I don't do a lot of decks so the others would know better than me but I imagine you would want to stay with the 12" capacity if you are using it to cut your larger beams and uprights. 10" will have the cross cut capacity but not the upright capacity.

The Bosch 12" axial has always interested me too but these guys all say it's very heavy so job to job would be be well on the back Lol.

As far as a mobile table saw I will always give a good thumbs up to the Ridgid. Just a good all around saw IMO. Otherwise I would get rid of the table saw and get a track saw. A lot more versatile.

Either way let us know what you get.

I never even thought of a track saw. I'll have to check that out.

My only complaint with a jobsite table saw has been out feed handling. I was a solo framer and I had to create supports to rip anything longer than 8'

And I guess I will take a look at Makita too.

I am partial to the 12" blade precisely because it cuts through posts cleanly.
We can also get PT 3x and 4x12 lumber so the longer the slide the better.

If 12" is your thing. My all time perfect cut evertime dam good dust collection but beastly heavy is the 12 Milwaukee. 2nd dewalt780 dc is pretty decent with vac.
As far 10" any of them cut through4x4. I personally have the kapex and my teams have the makita10" but the previous model to the most recent under/over sliders. It's lightDr then the K perfect accurate cuts every time and pretty good dc with vac. The only neg is low wings when cutting crown.
Table saw other the one you posted the dewalt mini in my opinion is the best. Depending on space and weight. There both top notch.

I figured. I don't have one yet but I can already see the major advantage they would have which is why I suggested it also.

Re: Other Than Festool - Best Jobsite 12" SCMS And Portable Table Saw

If your primary use for the table saw is cutting plywood, switching to a track saw is a no-brainer. I don't like the for ripping thin stock, though. My choice would be a DeWalt 745 and a Festool track saw. A Makita would be a close second if you're not going to invest in the Festool system.

I don't really have much of an opinion on the miter saws. I haven't had a DeWalt slider in almost 15 years. That was a great saw, actually! My current Milwaukee is great, but it's a beast. I'm still salivating over the Kapex! Trying to resist, but but I think about it every time I have to pick up the Milwaukee and carry it somewhere. It carries better than a lot of 12" sliders, though, since it has good handle placement, but still, it's heavy!

I just bought the Kapex and the $375 Dewalt, mainly because of the rack and pinion fence. Very happy with both so far.
I use the track saw more and more as I start getting faster with it.

I have the saw your looking at .My one problem I hate is the weight other then that is works well on there dewalt stand to. But I guess all 12" miter saws are bulky .

You cannot replace the table saw with the track saw. If I could only have one it would be the table saw.

This is the new Bosch....looks like junk.

Besides, he is looking for a 12"

Very much your own opinion on the track saw. Obviously as City stated it can be done I think once again it is all about what works for you.

I have to agree with you on that Bosch 8". Although I have not used it yet so it's all speculation on my part. Kinda crazy cause I just got the 4310 and I really like it.

It seems that most manufacturers are in a race to the bottom when it comes to quality.

780 works great, just take it out of the box and make sure you get a good one. Everything's straight, square, and flat. If not exchange for another.

Makita 2705x1 with gravity stand is a nice table saw.
