Yep I also have the router insert for the CMS but its the table saw setup I was more interested in. I may just use my OF1400 or I may get the 2200 just so I can leave it in the table.
I'm not sure exactly why it can't take the 2200 but I have seen 2200 running in them in the uk and us. I have installed a 2200 into the insert my self but not run it. I may be fine with the 1400 but I might just get the 2200 so I have both.
As far as I can see so far the 55 will not fit into the 75 insert.
I will be swapping the inserts out as needed. It's gonna be 99% table saw as I do have a MFT with a custom router table insert already made.
The magnetic switch on the CMS is not rated to carry the 2200 load. Due to this, the unit was not UL tested for the 2200. Next question is-Why not change the switch?- Well, then the plug needs to be a 5-20. They have gotten away from the 5-20 On the CT's. Most don't like using the 5-20 to 5-15 adapter.
My CMS came with all the parts necessary to install the 2200 in the table. I have heard that this has since changed, don't know for sure if it has.
You and Darcy covered it. Supposedly the 2200 requires a specific mounting ring/plate/pin/something that Festool no longer shipps with the CMS's sold in the states. I have read of homebrew solutions to deal with this, but then there is also the switch issue which I have read less about. Is it that the shipped switch *won't* handle or isn't *rated* to handle the TS-75?
When the CMS first come out it def had all the bits in the kit to mount the 2200. No idea if it does now but I thnk the parts are multi purpose between the 1400 and 2200. I have also heard the switch has no problem handling the power the 2200 requires. Just like the Kapex has no problem running on the 3amp max circuit the CT vac has for the receptical outlet.
Off course I can't take the word of people online 100% but the guys currently using the 2200 with the stock switch don't seem to be having any issues currently.
I have run my 2200 in my CMS. No issues what so ever. The CMS/2200 was run through the receptical on my 36 AC. Seeing as Shane reads these, there goes my warranty.
The same anti rotation pin/tab are used on the 1400 & 2200. The centering rings are different. The ring and dust cover may be what is no longer included.
I have a video on my YouTube channel that shows the current draw of the Kapex and my Bosch (not at the same time of course) miter saw run through the CT on a 15 amp circuit. Highest total surge draw was just under 40 amps. Not sure if I ever posted it here.
what are you hoping to achieve with the cms table saw vs a typical contractor saw? i'm seeing the sliding table, portability, customization with all the t track, is there a priority in the switch to the cms?
It's a much better setup for my trailer. Has a built in stand. Takes up same room as my Bosch. Has numerous setups possible. Has better dust extraction than my Bosch. Can be a router table with in a few mins swapping out the inserts. Can use my mft's as out feed support for bigger material.
I wish I could. I got the dam bits sitting here right next to me but I'm not back home yet. Will be very soon though. As soon as I get a chance I will post some pics of how it functions. It's def a sweat setup as a table saw let alone the router setup.
