Drones

So, I am starting a large commercial project on the 14th. I want some before, during, and, after aerial shots of the project.

What are you using and how much time do they take to get the hang of?

Re: Drones

I have a DJI Phantom.

They’re so simple to use.

A four year old could get great photos on their first flight.

They hover steady if you just let off the controls.
Hit a button they land themselves where they took off.

Mine was over the budget when I got it a couple years ago, but I think you can get one for about $600 these days, and they’re probably better.

Rock solid.

We never use ours.
Sits in a closet.
I’ll mail it to you.
Mail it back when you’re done.

I have been considering getting one as well to inspect chimneys and parapet walls...seems alot easier than getting a ladder out

Technically..... if you're using them for commercial purposes, you need to be licensed.

Jez sayin'.

Wouldnt commercial use be me taking images for a customer and not for taking images for my own use?

Serious question

Serious question
If there's any sort of remuneration for yourself (money, barter, trade, pizza-n-beer), then it's commercial.

Actually no bartering or pay is necessary just using it for anything other than hobby use is considered commercial use

But there really isnt anyone that is enforcing the licensing

It was fun for the first few months.

We filmed soccer practices (but the kids kept looking at the drone), flew around our farm, flew it into the windows of my office on Main St. downtown, flew it into an old bell tower, flew some smoke bombs around....

But my kid is 12.
And has a million activities.
Just got put in a closet and forgotten about.

Although.....now that A&E brought it up, I’m thinking it would be cool to film this new custom home we are building from start to finish.

Great season.

Hunted with my boy a lot.

He doesn’t like guns, but he loves venison and hanging with his dad.

I brought 6 to the processor so far.
(No drones necessary.....)

How bout you?

Great time away as usual with my two hunting buddies. Couldn’t get a shot at a pretty nervous buck who must of got a whiff of my smelly ass or noticed me texting lol. Came home with nothing but high blood pressure.

You go easy bro.

And get your smelly....parts ...down here next year.

We got plenty of big, beautiful Virginia bucks.

You have to be careful though.
You might never leave.

Re: Drones

Funny, I was just thinking about getting one too.

Actually got my boy one (small) for Christmas. This is where it ended up first go outside. It isn't rated for outside use.

Knocked it down unharmed with a nerf football.
