Dewalt Ruined The Powerlock

Well good ol black and decker strikes again.

Ruined my favorite finish work tape. Now the lines are super fat and inconsistent. Dewalt Ruined the powerlock-20170303_120713.jpg

Re: Dewalt Ruined The Powerlock

Fat Max are the only tapes I use.
16 ft
25 ft
40 ft
8 m/26 ft
Got about 8 of them in total. 40 ft needs replacing.

Re: Dewalt Ruined The Powerlock

I've noticed the last few I've bought have sucked. It's like I can't measure anymore. If they fattened up the lines, I'm done with them even moreso.

I've used the 25 footer for over 20 years.

I've also noticed they have ruined the 99 classic razor knife. It doesn't go back together, the fit and finish is crap and the screws are like they are stripped from the factory.

I thought my eyes were going bad or I was losing my mind until I figured out what was going on. That tape went straight in the dumpster

Re: Dewalt Ruined The Powerlock

Powerlock 35 here. This made me look.

I had noticed a while back that the lines were thicker. I didn't think much of it. Now that you posted, I looked at a couple. I know they were thin, years ago. I have one sitting on my desk that is probably 5 years old. The lines on one side are thin and the other side are thick.
Have a few new ones, still in the package. They all have thicker lines.
I also notice all the ones with thick lines have a yellow locking button. The older ones had black buttons.

Occasionally I will buy another brand. I try it for a while, don't like it, then I give it away.

Milwaukee guy here too.

I like the flex or what ever they call it that stiffens up the tape.

The base is also magnetic if I'm not mistaken

I like the fastcap tape measures for finish. I have a few different models.
