Bostich Hanger Nailer

I've got a bostich hanger nailer. It hasn't been used that much. Really only on a couple jobs. I leant it to my dad for a garage he's doing. He said he had trouble getting it to work and didn't use it. I'm going to try and use it on some hurricane ties, but not sure how it's going to work. Has anyone had issues with their gun at all? Is there something on it that generally needs adjustment? Thanks, Nick.

He said the gun just wouldn't shoot. So whatever is actually releasing the trigger wasn't possibly?

We have had zero issues with the Bostitch in the 6 months we have had it. We also have the Paslode, and it will occasionally get the nails jammed in there. The paper on the strips can cause the nails not to advance.

Our bostitch has always had an issue shooting. You have to wiggle the nail around to get it to shoot. Sometimes it works better than other times, a few times it has come really close to getting mashed with a hammer.. The only thing that has saved it is that nobody wants to finish putting them in by hand.

Oil it. The sleeve they slides back and forth wasn't retracting oiled it up and it was good to go.

I agree. I had this issue recently. oil the gun and lubricate the external mechanism concealed by the plastic shroud. Worked for mine.

What have you been using to lubricate the external mechanism. Never had any issues with my hanger nailer but I have a bostitch Framing nailer I bought a couple months ago that never leaves the tool crib because as soon as it get a bit of moisture in it it sticks and won't advance the nails.
Not good for a place where it can rain for 4-5 months straight.

I used Tri-flow this time. I was having chronic problems with the mechanism not resetting for the next shot. A few drops later, good to go. Working flawlessly.

Re: Bostich Hanger Nailer

Is it the 1 1/2" only or does it shoot the 2 1/2" as well? We have the dual size nailer and one of my guys put the short nails in the long nail slot and it wouldn't shoot.

It does have an issue with advancing every once in a while, maybe I'll get around to the external mechanism this week

I've got 3 of them. Only one works in the winter, other 2 leak air at the trigger. Nothing I've done solves it. As they wear out I have noticed problems similar to cold issues during the warm season.

The thing has hardly been used. It is the one that shoots the longer nails. I'm hoping it was my father and his geriatric crew that was the issue.

Sometimes hitting the top into something relatively hard gets it to work

I have 2 of the 1 1/2 guns and I have never had a problem with either one.

I love mine. First one I had broke. The piston head that threads on to the driving pin stripped out. Fortunately it was under warranty. Since its been repaired, I haven't had any issues at all.
