22" Powermatic Planer

Have a chance to upgrade to a 22" that is super cheap. Motor is shot in it. Originally a 3ph but I only have single and was thinking of dropping a single phase 7.5hp on it. The Leeson seems like it might be a better motor for single phase.

Any suggestions as to the motor?

5hp would probably be sufficient. Cheaper as well.

Re: 22" Powermatic Planer

I would use a 3ph motor - if at all possible. They are much more efficient . RPC or VFD.

Jmpo .....

Not very efficient on single phase power, they just sit there and hum.
