Question

Paslode Framing Gun Fires Two Nails

Can anybody help my paslode gun keeps firing two nails every now and then ,does anybody know what could be causing this

The gun is about two years old

The nails are 3" and are not full round head,

Also we are using two other nail guns and they are working fine so can't be the nails

I took the gun apart and gave it a good clean out. after the clean, I tested it by firing about 15 nails, went fine so i was hoping it fixed it but it is still doing it, possibly less often but still doing it

Worn parts or incompatible nails.

Re: Paslode Framing Gun Fires Two Nails

are you putting nails in over 3.25", that will happen if you try to put 3.5" in it, also I have had bad boxes of nails that were collated slightly at wrong angle, if those 2 scenarios don't fit, I don't know? also I have had nothing but problems with the paslode full head nails for the imct

IQC,

It's how you place the gun. If you don't have a firm 'set' you'll occasionally fire two shots... annoying, but commonplace...

Erik, I believe you're talking about bounce shooting. I think that's a seperate issue.

I kind of agree with the 'collation' theory, - - either bad angle (like bonesaw said), or the spacing or even the 'thinness', - - did'ja get the nails from H.D. ??

If so, - - there's your answer!!

Isn't this what will put nails in your head at odd angles?

In this case, maybe it's hitting on a fellow workers wife.

Re: Paslode Framing Gun Fires Two Nails

What causes the gun to fire two nails at the same time is the driver is hitting the second nail instead of the first one and driving both at once. The head of the second nail will catch the first and drive it in. Either the channel that the driver follows is sloppy or the nails are the wrong size or the nails are going to far down and letting the driver contact the second instead of first nail. Check all scenarios.

Dave.

Re: Paslode Framing Gun Fires Two Nails

Paslode are guns are awesome, in my opinion.

Big Dave hit the answer.
* Use name-brand nails
* Check that the nose of the gun is closed and that the hex screws or latching system is really keeping it tightly closed
* Make sure your driver blade isn't bent or mushroomed
* Make sure the nose of your gun isn't bent or cracked.

Sometimes, one of the above reasons will cause a nail not to fire properly, and then fire two nails on the next trigger pull. Take your gun to the shop if you can't figure out the cause. Generally doesn't cost much, and should fix the problem.

Good luck.
