All the rain screens I see around here, the battens are pressure treated.

Re: My After Work Project. Vinyl Siding Spec House To Victorian Stick Eastlake

Unfortunately, it's been a challenging fall, winter, and spring, health wise for my family and myself. All looks very positive now, but definitely slowed the progress.

I am glad that I honed my skills and design as i worked from the back to the front of the house. It's coming along with a bit more work to do on the lower floor bay and porch, front door etc.

I took a few photos while the cherry blossoms were out. I have to figure out window treatment for the bedroom windows that will leave all the millwork exposed. No luck so far.

I was hoping to be finished this spring.
I'll try and post a few more photos as it all comes together this summer, health permitting.

It was a lot of fun doing the finial and verge boards for the l/r bay window.

All the best

Nice job, not many people willing to pay for that kind of sweat equity.
A lot of our local victorians outside the historic district fall to the dreaded vinyl siding and all the gingerbread ends up in the dumpster...really enjoy seeing someone put the time in to keep it alive.

Thanks very much for your kind words.

I enjoy doing most of this. It's been a fun learning process, understanding Carpenter Gothic design, and incorporating my own theme.

Not too much has gone into the waste bin, but I've mis-cut a few things.

A lot of the pieces are made out of ACQ pressure treated wood, then back-primed. Hopefully this will help everything last for many decades.

I kind of don't enjoy cleaning up all the wood chips and shavings each night I work in the garage though (haha)

I have a few more months (night and weekends) of work to complete the lower bay window, porch and front door. I'll post pics when I get a chance.

Thanks again
