Little Addition At My House

This is going to be 18' wide x 12' deep.

Two rooms, pantry/laundry & extend the rear entry & add storage.

It will bring the laundry upstairs and give my wife lots of pantry storage.

It started with my grandsons starting the demo on the deck.

Oldest one is quite a worker.

Little one a one man wrecking crew, makes a bull in a china shop seem tame...

Re: Little Addition At My House

Pretty cool.

The mason worked out good for ya?

Is that going to be a pretty deep crawlspace/guns-and-gold storage, or does it get filled in a little?

Re: Little Addition At My House

subs, excavation & mason have been great.

seems like a lot of room now, but 12" drop down I joists will eat up a lot of room.

so just a regular crawl space...

Oh you hang 'em on the inside?

I haven't done one like that in a while.

Saves a rim board.

Re: Little Addition At My House

yes, hung inside.

had a grade issue on that long wall.

seemed like the best way around it.

also wanted a very small rise from the slab to floor.

Re: Little Addition At My House

Looking good.

1 1/8" is heavy $#!t. I did 2 floors, 1100 SF each, by myself. That was a couple good days work.

You have an entrance into that crawl?

Re: Little Addition At My House

We're doing one now that is 1-1/8" OSB. The plywood is light comparatively!

Re: Little Addition At My House

slow but sure...

buddy of mine on the coast did the trusses for me.

local outfit wouldn't do 2x6 top cord...

my friend did and put a seat cut to make them work to my specs.

we are matching a stick built roof.

got more dam rock also...

i'm enjoying putting this addition together, but.....

i'd rather be fishing...

Re: Little Addition At My House

Couple questions, it looks like the angle of the roofline is different than the main house? How will you handle the connection to the existing soffit and new roof line?

When I had the trusses made for my garage I went with a room attic truss, 2 x 6 top chord with a 2 x 8 bottom cord.

Re: Little Addition At My House

External pitch is the same as existing roof.

Internal pitch the ridge is off set so each sides sloped ceiling end at the ridge.

Truss company didn't want to do a 2x6 top cord because it involved putting a seat cut on the top cord and they didn't want to do it.
