Stamped Asphalt Intersection We Did

We did this intersection a few years ago. It was over 80' x 120'.

Struck a circle then filled in with running bond which was offset.

Framed by crosswalks on all 4 sides, then filled in with running bond between crosswalks and circle.

Fun and when done the stamped concrete contractor I beat on the bid (owner) came over and shook my hand and gave me a sincere compliment on how it turned out.

Another intersection.

Won an award for best asphalt job in Missouri that year.

Looks pretty good. How do the colors hold up to high heat? Are they integral?

Heat isn't an issue. The coating holds up extremly well under heavy abuse such as snow plows, etc.

The reason I came on board with this is that asphalt is a somewhat flexible substrate and typically you sacrifice durability with a flexible coating designed to move with the base.

Not so with these coating products. They are applied in multiple layers (4) and are polymerized and loaded with aggregete which makes for an very tough and long lived wear surface.

Some of our applications are in 20,000 vehicle passes per day and holding up well.

Not integral. Multiple layers applied and allowed to dry between each layer.

Re: Stamped Asphalt Intersection We Did

That's nice looking. Our city redid its main street and did the walks like that. It's been a couple years now and it's holding up well!
