Patching Early Generation PVC/ Foam Exterior Door Trim

I replaced an entry door with sidelites, and pulled off the fluted trim casings and crown/header detail, found they were some kind of yellow foam/ plastic. they pulled right off, in most cases right through the siding nail heads. Client would like to put them back on- and they're in pretty good shape. Does anyone know what'd be best to fill these nail holes with? New PVC trim would be $400 for wide fluted casings and small top shelf alone. I am building a new PVC header with crown. Thanks for any advice. The old stuff is like a hard-packed styrofoam that you can break fairly easily. They think it's early 90's.

You could make your own fluted molding out of pvc. I did that on an install earlier this year to replace the wood that was there
